Grumpy Old Man Protests Netting, Wants You Off His Damn Lawn

Protective netting at Fenway? Thanks, but no thanks

I, for one, welcome the netting. 1,750 injuries a year out of 74,000,000 tickets sold is (let's see...162 games per team, 2 teams per game) 2,430 games--nearly 1 injury per game. And the new stadium designs--smaller foul territory to bring fans closer to the action, chiefly--have probably led to more, and more serious injuries. Maybe I'm more risk averse than Stephen King, but, there you go.

I think the netting is a good thing. I really don't want to see another game stopped for twenty minutes and watch as a fan, bloody and maybe semi conscious, is removed by stretcher.
