Songs that Sound Very Much Alike

16 songs that sound as much (or more) alike than Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” and Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down”

Well, #1 is virtually the same song, so much so that Brian Wilson had to give Chuck Berry half the credit and the money.

One they didn't have on there even had the same title: "I Keep Forgettin'" by Michael McDonald was a virtual rewrite of the Leiber & Stoller original, which (again) resulted in them getting co-writing credit. So, while the sound is different the title and theme are identical.

Not nearly as many as you did, obviously. There is a period there were Nic hit the high point, the THE ROCK and CON AIR era. Sadly, he has fallen long and hard since then.

That was supposed to go on the Nic Cage item, obviously.

I always thought Joe Jackson's "Always Something Breaking Us in Two" was incredibly similar to Badfinger's "Day Adter Day"--the opening bars are almost identical.

When you consider how many songs are three- or four-chord progressions it's amazing to find a song that doesn't sound like 50 others.
