Somebody ought to do a history of wraparound paperback covers. This was surely one of the earliest. Bill, you have all the GMs, any earlier? I know Lucinda was a wrap, but that was #400. The earliest Dell I can think of offhand is Pomp & Circumstance(Noel Coward), but that's 1962.

The scene depicted and the one described are quite different. What was the art director thinking?

I don't have all the GMs, but I do have a lot of 'em. I can't think of an earlier wraparound, but there might be some out there. I'll have to think about it and maybe take a look.

What the Art Director was probably thinking, "I've got this tropical isle painting sitting around here that I paid for but haven't been able to use -- close enough!"

I liked Pratt's "sexy" bestsellers. He was a solid craftsman.
