George Coe, R. I. P.

Rolling Stone: George Coe, an original Saturday Night Live cast member and longtime actor and voiceover artist with over 50 years of credits, passed away Saturday in Santa Monica, California after battling a long illness, Variety reports. He was 86. Coe was featured among the other "Not Ready For Prime Time Players" when Saturday Night Live debuted on October 11, 1975.

My favorite TV role of his was as Senator Stackhouse in a couple of 'West Wing' episodes, but most memorably in the filibuster episode......

There was a Charlie Coe in Paul Revere and the Raiders. I wonder if they were related.

We saw him (can it be?) 45 years ago in COMPANY on Broadway.

My husband just reminded me that Coe was in a hilarious Betgman parody called "The Dove" ("De Duva") sometime in the late 1960s where he lost a badminton game to Death. I'd totally forgotten that.
