Percy Sledge, R. I. P.

CNN.com: (CNN)Percy Sledge, the R&B belter whose biggest hit, "When a Man Loves a Woman," became a cornerstone of soul music, died Tuesday. He was 73.

Sadly, he was doing gigs at a local (and by local, I mean Mandeville) Daiquiris and Cream store just a few years ago.

Undoubtedly explaining the reason why he was doing gigs at Daiquiri shops into his seventies.

"When a Man Loves a Woman" hit Number One in 1966 when I was a love-sick 17-year-old. It was the perfect song for what I was going through at the time. And, it's a classic today.
